Mekong Startup Ecosystem Summit 2.0 Save the Date March 23-25

The Mekong Startup EcoSystem Summit 2.0 which will help to establish regional ecosystem activities, push regional startups to the next level through the TechSauce tour, increase collaboration in the region while highlighting the growing startup scene in Laos.  The summit participates will have the top startup programs in the Mekong region, including some of the top investors.  An important part of the Mekong Ecosystem Summit will be the Techsauce tour giving Mekong startups a chance to compete with their counterparts later in Bangkok.

The Summit will be a collaboration of the US State Departments Tigers@Mekong program, Mekong Business Initiative supported by Australian Government and ADB, Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry,, Tah-Lao, and TechSauce.  The Summit is open to ecosystem organizations and investors in Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand

The first Mekong Startup Ecosystem Summit was held in June of 2015 in HCMC and launched 3 regional initiatives in the region, shared best practices from the region on supporting startups and created hundreds of connections Video.   In addition Mekong Startup EcoSystem 2.0 will focus more on supporting regional startups and highlighting new developments in the ecosystems in Lao, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Thailand which will include activities like:

  • Mekong StartUp Initiative Challenge:  A chance for any startup program to find partners and pitch for grant money ($20K available) for regional startup activities.
  • Keynote Speech by Jeff Hoffman:  an accomplished entrepreneur and innovator in the fields of Internet, e-commerce, and entertainment. He is best known as a founder and CEO in the Price line family of companies.  Jeff works with President Obama’s National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship, along with USAID and the State Department, for which he speaks worldwide on the topics of entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Ecosystem Speed Dating:  Organizations and programs will quickly engage with partners in a connect and learn activity.
  • Startup Program sharing and learning:  Workshops will be held to highlight successful lessons in the region on startup programming from training, mentoring, co-working and connecting.
  • TechSauce Tour:  A small group of regional startups will pitch in front of some regional investors with the chance to be able to attend the TechSauce Summit in Bangkok.
